Spiritual direction is also known as spiritual guidance or spiritual friendship. It's an ongoing relationship between a person who desires to be more attentive to God's presence in his or her spiritual life and a spiritual director who supports that desire. The person seeking direction and the spiritual director may opt to meet once per month.
The term "spiritual direction" can be misleading. It seems to imply a process in which one person is told by some apparently wiser person how to conduct one's spiritual life. Spiritual direction is more a process of facilitating a person in the development of his or her relationship with God. It is a form of pastoral care which focuses not so much on ideas or theories, but rather on the experiences of God in one's life.*
A spiritual director creates and holds sacred space for reflection, discernment, and discovery.

Anyone who is on a spiritual journey or seeking guidance in their spiritual life may benefit from having a spiritual director. This can include individuals from various religious traditions or those who consider themselves spiritual but not religious. Some common scenarios where someone might seek a spiritual director include: Seeking Balance, Discernment, Prayer and Meditation, Healing and Wholeness.
A labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool designed to foster contemplation and spiritual transformation. Walked by contemplatives and lay people alike for centuries, labyrinths are typically formed as a circle with a singular path leading to a center.
If you feel called to embark on this journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth, I invite you to schedule a consultation with me. I can meet in person (in the middle Tennessee area) or online via Zoom.
